‘Cue the Party Burger

YIELD: 4 Servings 


  • Oil, as needed, for coating grill grate
  • 4 yellow onion slices, peeled, center-cut ¼’ thick, rings; do not separate
  • ½ cup red cabbage, thinly shaved
  • ½ cup green cabbage, thinly shaved
  • 4 tbsp Lexington BBQ sauce; see recipe
  • 4 BIG BOX Beef Patties, frozen
  • 8 thick slices of Texas toast bread
  • 4 butter lettuce leave, rinsed and patted dry
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste


  1. Preheat grill to 350 degrees.
  2. Grill the center-cut onion slices on both sides, until just tender. Be careful to keep the rings from separating. Remove from grill to cool.
  3. Once the grilled onion has cooled, remove the outermost ring on each and set aside.
  4. Finely chop the remaining grilled onion and place in a bowl with the red and green cabbages, and two tablespoons of the Lexington BBQ sauce (see recipe in Tailgatin’ and Party Side Recipe section)
  5. Toss together until well combined and set aside to marinate in refrigerator.
  6. Put the patties on the grill. Once juices come to the top, it’s ready to flip.
  7. While the BIG BOX Beef Patties are grilling, lightly toast both sides of the bread slices on the grill.
  8. Remove bread from grill and place a bed of lettuce on 4 slices.
  9. Place the hot and juicy grilled BIG BOX Beef Patties on the lettuce.
  10. Top the burgers with the reserved grilled outer onion rings and place the Lexington slaw inside each.
  11. Drizzle the remaining Lexington BBQ sauce over the top of the Lexington slaw and burgers
  12. Top each burger with a remaining toast slice and serve.
